Today we celebrate Herm 2 Hockeytown
Mad props to my fellow bloggers in Detroit and all around the country who follow the Red Wings and helped organize such an amazing event. Today is Herm 2 Hockeytown. It started as an idea to bring a Red Wings fan from Brazil to Detroit to see his first ever hockey game and it turned into something so much more. Once the donations reached the point that there was enough funds to bring Herm to the Detroit, all excess donations will be given to the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
Not only made props to the organizers of this event, but the Red Wings’ organization as well. They took notice of this story and invited Herm to the Joe and he will get a chance to meet his favorite player, Darren Helm . Fox Sports Detroit will be interviewing Herm during an intermission and the station is sending a reporter to cover the pre-game party at the Hockeytown Cafe. Many local Detroit news stations will be covering the story and Toronto’s Globe and Mail and the NHL have taken notice too.
It’s just the ultimate story of the lengths that hockey fans will go to help other hockey fans (and help the sick kids of Michigan too). It makes me proud to be a Wings’ fan and I hope everyone at Herm 2 Hockeytown has one hell of a time today.
