Jesse Liebman:

The mantra for success in the Stanley Cup playoffs is often to ride the hot hand in net. That strategy might not apply in this series, because the goaltending departments for broth teams have been in a constant state of flux for the entire year. To be fair, Jose Theodore seems to have gotten his act together for the Caps (20-0-3 in the past three months). And on a team that’s as loaded offensively as Washington is, Theodore has the luxury of having to be good, not great. Meanwhile, Montreal is incapable of scoring in 5-on-5 situations. This should be a quick one.

Jeff Hancock:

To me, this series is as much of a no brainer as any in the playoffs.  If Montreal wins it will be a huge upset.  Washington is just so much better than them.  They are better on offense and defense.  Carey Price and Jaroslav Halak may be better goaltenders than Jose Theodore and Simeon Varlamov, but it won’t matter.  The Caps have too much fire power, too much momentum, and are the better team.

Brandon Fox:

This Montreal Canadiens team was one of my favorites to win the Conference this season. But even with the additions of Scott Gomez, Brian Gionta, and Mike Cammelleri and tough guys Hal Gill and Travis Moen, this team failed to produce enough goals. The Washington Capitals have had no problem in that department.
